Fire and Rescue Boats

Aug. 20, 2007
Northwind Marine has delivered a fleet of 20 fire and search and rescue (SAR) boats to the Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate to be deployed along Iraqi's rivers and sea port. The four 30-foot boats are constructed of marine grade aluminum, and the hulls are designed to keep the vessel buoyant if swamped or overturned. The boats are driven by pairs of 225-horsepower Honda outboards with 25-inch, extra-long shafts and stainless-steel propellers. The 19-foot fire/SAR boats are designed for service on lakes, rivers and harbors. These agile aluminum rigid-hull inflatable boats (ARIB) utilize a single gasoline engine to provide both water and jet propulsion and pumping power to pick up water and operate a bow monitor.
